North 24 Parganas Sammyao Sramogibi Samity (NSSS)
Educate Girl Child
Girls who receive an education are less likely to marry young and more likely to lead healthy, productive lives. They earn higher incomes, participate in the decisions that most affect them, and build better futures for themselves and their families. Girls’ education strengthens economies and reduces inequality. Keeping in mind, NSS started Girls’ education awareness program from 2022. NSS is working with the girls for their rights, for their equality. For this, NSS has formed 100 girls’ groups, comprises of 1260 adolescent girls in 100 remotest villages of 4 blocks (Baduria, Swarupnagar, Basirhat-I and Basirhat-II). During this year, We have worked with these girls for their empowerment; sensitizing them on gender equality, working for their safety and security so that they live in a violence free society.
These girls’ groups have been trained on drama-based social campaign in community. Six drama groups have been formed and they perform in community, schools and panchayat for spreading awareness on importance of girls’ education. For building up future, girls have been provided career counselling support by the expertise career counsellor. Through various activities, 200 leaders have been selected for next level. They are being trained on leadership. Through this journey 50 girls have been selected for “Champion group”. Now NSS plan to send this Champion group for internship in various organizations.
