For this program, NSS has identified 185 girls for creating preventing mechanism to reduce the chances of trafficking, domestic violence and gender violation in Swarupnagar, Baduria blocks of North 24 Parganas district in West Bengal. These blocks are border adjacent areas of Bangladesh. There are so many villages under border security force and these areas are mostly vulnerable in all aspect. In these community girls go to the school but they have no basic idea of child protection, child rights, RTE act, even girls have no knowledge regarding the legal support girls can get if they face any violation. NSS built up 5 ‘Education center’ in 5 communities (Schedule cast, Schedule Tribes and Muslim communities) of 2 blocks where girls are getting support on English subject, they are also learning about child protection, child rights, RTE act, gender equality and discrimination etc. They are not only getting information and trainings on social issues but also they are providing training and providing awareness on same to their peers of community and schools. 11 students from Duttapara, Bhojpara and Atghora centres participated in ‘All Bengal Talent Hunt Scholarship Exam 2023’ on 27th August’23 and successfully passed the examination.

For this reason, we looked at how many marks the students obtained in last year (2023) and how many marks the students obtained this year (2024). We found that 28% of the students have increased by up to 10 marks from their previous marks, 56% of the students have increased by up to 20 marks from their previous marks, 13% of the students have increased by up to 30 marks from their previous year and 3% of the students have increased it above 30.
